Spring is probably the best season to take a walk. The best place to do this is the Buen Retiro Park, with is a green area located in the heart of central Madrid. Another interesting place to enjoy Madrid in the Spring is the Rastro/ This is the most famous flea market in the capital of Spain. Attracting numerous people throughout the year, this time of year is the best at discovering the rare treasures of the past. Tirso de Molina square: the colour of Spring
Not very far from the Rastro, you can visit Tirso de Molina square. This is a very colourful place thanks to its flowers market that consists of small stalls that give the square a special smell and look. Traditional bars and theatres share the room with international restaurants and tearooms.
A season full of festivities
Spring also stands out because of the main festivities held by the city there. One example would be San Isidro event on May 15th. This is a popular party in which the inhabitants of Madrid and many tourists go to San Isidro Park, in the south-west of the city and have a traditional picnic with tortilla (Spanish omelette) along with other delicacies. The Plaza Mayor hosts concerts and events. One especially festive day is May 2nd. This is the day in which the region commemorates the rebellion against French occupation in 1808. .
Sport and bullfighting, an interesting suggestion
You should take into account that Spring is the season in which the most important matches of football take place.
