Atletico Madrid schedule in January 2015

December was not a good month for Atletico Madrid; of its four games the team only won two, lost one and tied the other to zero. The game against Villareal, celebrated on December 14th, was a terrible lost for the team since it involves losing against a weak opponent. Unlike Real Madrid, Atletico played the last match of the month, the one corresponding to round 16th, three days before Christmas. The team will have a few days off before resuming training to face Levante on January 3 at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

At year’s end Atletico third in the ranking of La Liga BBVA and a few points below its unmediated rivals Barcelona F.C. and Real Madrid (although the latter with one game less, after it was suspended to allow the team to play the FIFA Club World Cup 2014).

In January, Atletico will face Levante, Granada and Rayo Vallecano in Vicente Calderon Stadium; and Barcelona and Eibar as a visitor team. Definitely the most difficult game this month is against Barcelona F.C. Except for the Catalans, the remaining rivals are in lower positions on the leaderboard (Levante is 15th with 14 points, Granada is 16th with 12 points, Rayo is 12th with 17 points and Eibar is 9th with 20 points). Some of the January matches are second legs. The previous results included a goalless game against Rayo Vallecano in the first journey of La Liga, while in the match against Eibar won by two goals to one.

There won’t be any Champions League matches on January, 2015. However all dates of the matches for the second round of the Champions League 2014-15 are available after the draw celebrated on December 15th. The draw for the second round pair the 16 teams that have won the first round matches avoiding clashes between teams from the same country or have coincided in the group stage. Check our section of Atletico de Madrid Tickets for further information.

The pair of Atletico de Madrid is Bayer Leverkusen, the former sub-champion of the competition and currently the third strongest team in the Bundesliga. Both teams have met in European competition always being obtained as a result the tie.
