Transportation in Madrid

The system for transportation in Madrid is being developed each and every day. Yes, it is not perfect but you can see that it is improving through time. During rush hours, the situation of trains and buses are affected especially the capital from 8:00AM to 10:00AM & 6:00PM to 7:00PM (Fridays, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM). Fourth is the fastest means of transportation which is the taxi. Of course there are other means of transportations in Madrid such as rental of private car, motorbike or the bicycle. Public transport in Madrid


Public transport in Madrid is guaranteed to be safe, clean, fast (different degrees of speed), cheap, and most of all efficient. METRO (SUBWAY). Enjoy 12 lines of different railways running through the capital except for one. Tourists can enjoy the efficiency of Metro when getting to the most important places in Madrid including the airport, the attractive downtown and the business commercial areas. Running in up to 213 stations and travelling with one place to another can be really easy efficient with this transportation. The frequency of the train varies through different times. Closely between 2 or 3 minutes of waiting period during rush hours (e.g. 7:30AM to 9:00AM), trains can be easily boarded to. On the other hand, the interval of trains all throughout the day is every 5 minutes regularly.



    This is the most used transportation means by most Madrilenians. You can distinguish buses with their astounding blue color for regular ones and red color for diesel users that are usually up to 10% discount on fares. It can take you everywhere with its very precise drop off points that you can find closer to your destination. They are running everyday from 6:00AM to 12:00MN ranging from 5 to 15 minutes of interval. During the night, this is the most popular means of transport because of night buses called “buhos” that runs from 11:45PM to 6:00AM every 15 to 30 minutes of waiting time. Approximately, these “buhos” buses travel the same path of the subway lines departing from Cibeles Square

    This is the best transport choice when travelling from the Great Madrid to the capital or vice-versa. It can take you to the popular Paseo de la Castellana and Nuevos Ministerios. With a frequency of 3 to 5 minutes, it runs from 6:00AM to 11:00PM. As you can see, the frequency of local train is lower than the Metro but keep in mind that it stops less times. Important places such as the Puerta del Sol and of course the airport (terminal 4) can easily be within the reach using local trains.
  • TAXI

    Most flexible and fastest means of transport. It can take you anywhere with the expense of paying for the distance, of course. It is always available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The prices are not very expensive (e.g. approximately €25 from the airport) but higher compared to local trains, buses and metro. They can be accessed at several taxi stops around the city especially near big stations and hotels at your convenience. Tourists who need special assistance, such as wheelchairs, can use this transport to ask for adapted cars.

Private transport in Madrid


Private transport in Madrid is also a good choice. Renting a car in Madrid is better choice if you are going to visit from one city to another. This offers you the luxury and freedom to go anywhere you like with the comfort of travelling and site seeing. The main companies work in the city, as well as other platforms to rent motorcycles.
